CO2ALITION EVOLVES: NEW PROGRAM TO ACCELERATE COMPANIES' TRANSITION TO CLIMATE NEUTRALITY
On June 15, 2022, 60 Italian companies decided to amend their bylaws by adding a climate neutrality purpose, thereby committing to
implement a gradual evolution of their business and
operations toward a climate-neutral economy, in line
with European climate neutrality goals and national climate transition goals
ecological transition.
Within a few months of the initiative's launch, 25 more companies have decided to commit to this direction and have enabled CO2alizione to reach 85 member companies, with a total turnover of more than 20 billion euros and 35,000 employees.
Since the inception of the initiative, the member companies themselves have urged the need to go beyond sharing a "good practice" of governance and build a common working platform to respond to the challenges.
And that is why today CO2alition is poised to become the movement where things happen and thus represent not only a formal commitment to climate neutrality, but also a movement of companies that choose to systematize to innovate their practices and processes.
A relaunch that stems from the recent collaboration between NATIVA, which promoted the initiative, and Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile, an authoritative and historic point of reference for strategic and scientific issues in the green economy and which has supported the initiative from the beginning.
The new 2023 program therefore builds on a model of working and sharing centered on a principle of radical collaboration among all member companies, with the goal of providing the tools and support needed to honor the climate neutrality pledge in Statute.
Over the course of the year, CO2alition companies will participate in numerous webinars, meetings, and workshops aimed at supporting climate neutrality challenges in concrete ways and where hot topics will be explored, best practices shared, and collaborative solutions developed on sectoral and cross-sectoral issues. But that's not all. Activities are planned to design common actions accrued from the experience of member companies and bring them to the attention of the legislature, but also events and moments to share best practices and results that have emerged from the working tables externally, with the aim of raising awareness of these issues among the press and institutions.
An opportunity, therefore, to make sense of the word "system" and do so in the face of the most important challenge facing our generation.
